During 16-18 October, 2023, the forth international seminar has been organised for doctoral students from Estonia, Finland and Israel. The event has been held in Vihula Manor, Vihula, Estonia. It has been part of the Horizon 2020 SciCar project.
During the seminar, students took the role of presenter, reviewer, and opponent. A total of 25 doctoral students presented their works during the seminar. Due to the unfortunate events in Israel, participants from there presented, and carried out their role as opponent through hybrid environment.
In addition to students’ presentation, plenaries and workshops were offered by our invited guests, to enhance PhD students’ research skills. Professor Carlos Enrique George Reyes from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico offered the first plenary on Progressive pedagogies for the future of education: the case of complex thinking. Professor Joseph Krajcik from Michigan State University, USA, who is also member of the advisory board for the SciCar project, offered two keynote speeches. The first Designing High-Quality Instruction Materials, and Constructing Performance-based Assessment Items to Promote Knowledge-in-Use being second. A concept mapping workshop on What Is Learning in the Context of Science Classroom, was offered by Professor Priit Reiska from Tallinn University.
